Riding Into History Gains Speed

Motorcycle entries from all over the country are pouring in for the Riding Into History Concours d'Elegance. Organizers expect a record number of entries, far exceeding the 300 antique, vintage, custom and competition motorcycles in last year's show.

Riding Into History is one of America's premier motorcycle events, and it will return to the World Golf Village near St. Augustine, Florida on May 19, 2007. The event will feature Charity Rides, the Concours d'Elegance, the Biker's Ball and the Historic Ride. All of the proceeds from Riding Into History will benefit the Buddy Check 12 breast cancer charity, a partnership between Baptist Health and First Coast News.

Entrants, patrons and media representatives from as far away as England and Scotland will be in attendance. Event Chairman Bill Peterson termed the interest in the show "overwhelmingly positive," and noted that the turnout in spectators, exhibitors, dealers and clubs should easily set records as well.

The Grand Marshal for this year's event will be Kel Carruthers, former Grand Prix Road Race World Champion on a 250cc Benelli. He is also a two-time winner at the Isle of Man, Motorcycle Hall of Fame Member, and manager of the teams on which Kenny Roberts won three consecutive 500cc World Championships. Kel will be on hand at the Concours to talk with patrons and to sign the extremely popular event posters.

Internationally know motorcycle artist Don Bradley will once again provide the original artwork for the posters, which have become collectors' items. Posters, t-shirts and other items will be available at RidingIntoHistory.org and at the event.

The event is presented by the Riding Into History Committee, which is comprised of volunteer members from the Atlantic Beach Vintage Motorcycle Club (ABVMC) and the BMW Motorcycle Owners of Northeast Florida (BMWNEF).

This year the Concours will feature The Sexy Motorcycles of Italy. Admission is still only $10 at the gate for the Concours. Various packages are available for the Biker's Ball and the Charity Rides, and they are posted on the website.

The World Golf Village is located just north of St. Augustine on I-95, exit 323.

Hi All,
I have recently had a set of mudguards made for the Mark 1 BS by a young bloke in Melbourne. He used my original rear guard as a template and the result was fantastic. So if anyone is looking to get guards made his name is Adam Higgins on 03 5148 3207. I certainly recommend his work.
Thanks
Paul

I have a reconditioned 50 degree 30s Lucas magdyno. The dynamo is a 'long' one modified to 12 volts.
The mag has a good spark but my Norton JAP with the 8.80 engine has no decompressor so I have used a BTH capacitor discharge unit.
I need an oil tank for my SS100 replica.
Pricing today is very difficult.
Offers please.
Email me for photos.

I have a spare pair of Harley J rear fork legs that I have modified to Castle fork specification. There is more work to do to fit the front legs links etc. However all these parts are readily available.
I need an oil tank for my replica project and I am expecting a large bill from the engine builder in the near future. Please email me for photos.
I am open to offers.

I spoke with the vendor and he said the reserve is around $50000. Seems like a lot for a rebodied Hudson needing total restoration. I am restoring a vintage Alfa right now and I can promise you all the wood under that beautiful Atcherley body will be questionable. Major surgery required. Sawdust makes a heck of a mess in any motorcyclist's shop. In spite of all this I'd still love to own it! George had such an eye.

Just so you know it is headed to Kansas to stable up with a few of it's two wheeled cousins. Just didn't seem right to have it floating about all lonely and away from family. Besides I have been saving the high compression, twin carb, Hudson straight eight from the wrecked Kentucky Wiskey runners 1936 Terraplane for just such an occasion. Keep ya posted. Scott Hall

Before joining the club, I thought it might be a good idea to find a Brough.I'm looking for a rigid frame 1150 from 1935 on.A complete running bike would be nice, but a project would be fine too.I have a very complete early HRD B Rapide basket case, on which I've done quite a bit of work. It's engine # 43.Would be willing to swap this for an 1150 in similar condition, or part exchange it for one that is up and running.Any interest out there?
thanks,
Charlie

Bob Withers 19.3.2007 21:36
Ownership is not a condition of membership, Charlie! It is available to anyone with an interest. Hope to sign you up soon!!!
