Surplus to my needs here is a lovely top of the line Time Speed meter in excellent working condition that would look great on any Brough. Currently on USA Ebay auction number 110550785644. You can call me at 1-613-273-5036 or email any questions or if you want me to send you some very detailed images. The auction still has 8 days to run. Cheers, Barry

speedometer did not meet reserve so i have relisted it . New auction number is 11055849589. I may be interested in swapping for things I need for my Brough. I am looking for one of those nice mid twenties leather saddles , possibly a Brooks? with the little leaf springs. also a Binks mouse trap carb

I get such items from Brough Superior Club Spares and Events Ltd. Good quality, fast service, reasonable prices. Address in the Brough Superior Club monthly Newsletter.

The November/09 spares list says the horn switch is part # HB12, Dip switch is part # HB13 27.50 pounds each. I bought such not too long ago and they were of good quality. I realize that items come and go as to availability from the spares fund which is quite understandable. I had a wait for a pair of sports handlebars but they did come in time and were well made.

Off to the Beach on the Brough... Yes I real do that sometimes!

I am envious of anyone Broughing in California but it makes me wonder if you have ever had "road rash"?
|
Allan Johnson 26.5.2010 01:07
Santa Barbara, California is right on the Pacific Ocean. Depending where you are in the town it seems a shame to ride a Brough only a mile or less at a time. Even in La-La land it wouldn't warm up the oil.

A couple weeks ago my wife and I went up to Carmel... 500 miles round trip. The oil got warmed up that day! And I wore shoes.

sounds good Doug! That would be one of my dream rides along that coast highway. We should all have a Brough rally there!

Well I can't believe another Lakeland rally is over. Had a fabulous time this weekend, as usual the routes were excellent and the views amazing. Many thanks to Robert, Angela, Ian and Diane for all their hard work and kind hospitality.
This photo was taken just after arrival at the "optional" stop at the Masons Arms.

Hello, I need to get valves, guides and spring seats for a dog eared JTOR engine. Can anyone help with where I can get these please . regards, Nick.
Barry Brown 17.5.2010 01:53
Hey Nick, Isn't there some old guy named Jean- Pierre in your village that has a grimy old lathe and a wooden box full of Citroen and Bugatti valves that can be cut down to what you need? Seriously though, it is not rocket science to take a more modern valve made of excellent material and machine it to suit. I cut down Ford valves for my JTOR. Same with the guides and you can make them to your spec and tolerances. Just trying to help, not be rude. Whatever route you choose, good luck with the JTOR. Cheers, Barry
PS If you already have old guides installed go with guide inserts as it is much more gentle on those precious heads. your local machine shop will hopefully know how to do this
